The first Steam Digital Board Games Festival, which will celebrate games where physical and digital come together, will be held between 21-26 October. Organized in collaboration with Auroch Digital, this event will feature virtual play sessions, talks and broadcast activities exploring games where physical and digital come together with legendary designers, future studios and you.

Auroch Digital, an independent studio, has collaborated with Valve to curate the event program and include Sandy Petersen (Call of Cthulhu RPG, Quake, Cthulhu Wars and many more!), Steve Jackson (Munchkin, Ogre, Car Wars and many more), Ian It will feature speakers such as Livingstone (co-founder of Games Workshop and Fighting Fantasy, chairman of Sumo Group plc), Elizabeth Hargrave (creator of the popular game Wingspan), as well as author and New Yorker writer who will talk about how a tabletop game helped the allied forces win World War II. He helped put together Simon Parkin.

Some of the other various activities that will take place during the event include:
Plague Inc: Evolved

- James Vaughan, designer of both the digital and physical versions of the game, will play the tabletop scenario of the digital game and talk about both versions of the game.
othercide

- Combining a strong art style, a unique story and compelling tactical gameplay, this tactical RPG will be presented by the game's art director and lead game designer.
gloomhaven

- There will be a livestream where developers will attend and talk about what Gloomhaven will receive in the next Steam Early Access content update.
A virtual panel to talk about Mars-related games

- In this panel, game creators and real space agency employees and scientists will come together to talk about what is right and what is wrong in games about Mars.
A virtual panel to talk about Cthulhu games

- In this panel, where some well-known designers who focus on the Cthulhu theme in both digital and physical games will come together, the cultural effects of these games and much more will be discussed.
Join live streams to chat with developers about their games or other topics. If you miss it, you will be able to watch reruns of these broadcasts later. More panels and talks will be announced as the event approaches.

Steam Digital Board Games Festival will highlight games that combine digital and physical games. These games may be versions of a physical game transferred to the digital world, a game that is a version transferred from the digital world to the physical world, or a game that imitates the physical playing experience or is aesthetically inspired by board games.
