Valve attributed this new feature, which will be available starting in October, to the increasing use of Playstation controllers. At this point, the gaming giant reported that Sony controllers accounted for only 11 percent of sessions in 2018, but today this number has reached 27 percent. Therefore, let us state that the decision taken is not surprising.

Additionally, Valve says that since 2017, more than 87 million Steam users have used a controller at least once. Of this group, 69 percent was devoted to Xbox while the remaining 31 percent was shared between Playstation, Switch Pro, and other devices.
