For Valorant Champions 2023, Riot Games is adding even more incentives for teams to compete to better finish the tournament with its record-breaking prize pool. The prize pool of the tournament was set at $2.25 million. The event's prize pool is the highest in Valorant history and will set a high bar for future world championships in terms of prize money.
While the prize set is dazzling, it doesn't come close to some other esports events. Riot Games' League of Legends world championship saw one of the largest prize pools in 2018. This was thanks to the initial $2.25 million prize pool created by the developers and the extra cash flow from sales of in-game skins.
Other esports, such as Dota 2, have also resulted in large prize pools at events as they allow the community to pay with in-game cosmetic sales. Valorant esports has yet to go that route, with Riot Games choosing to send money from in-game sales directly to teams regardless of tournament standings.
In the meantime, let's also mention that you can watch the tournament on the official channels to see which team will leave with the 1 million dollar prize when the tournament starts on August 6th.
